Ahhh...summer!!

5.26.13
We finally did some exploring up north and discovered the Pineapple Park which I loved! You get in a little pineapple cart that takes you through the fields and has a little speaker tour guide. Then, we walked through the shop that had tons of free samples of pineapple juices, pineapple wine, cakes, candy, and more! We ended up buying a few things to take home. After that, we were on our way to some castle ruins when we saw a giant touristy looking place, so we stopped to check it out. Turns out it was the Okinawa Fruit Land, so we toured that place for a while. They had different sections like a butterfly garden, bird house, and lots of fruit growing on trees. It was a fun little visit! Then, we walked around at the Nakijin Castle ruins, visited another butterfly garden, and ended the day at Pizza in the Sky, which is a very popular place that everyone talks about. They say it has a great view but unfortunately it was rainy and gloomy when we went, so there wasn't much to see for us. Overall, it was a wonderful day! (There are many pictures from this day on facebook, so I'll just pick a few.)

For Memorial Day, we met up with our small group at the beach to enjoy some hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, fruit, chips, and s'mores! It was a such a great day with friends of relaxing on the beach, in the water, exploring, and hanging out. I love living here for days like this!

A friend is going to start doing makeup for people around here, so she wanted to test her skills on us and get some photographs for her portfolio. So we all brought some snacks and spent a few hours chatting, getting our makeup done, and doing a little photo shoot! (Hope you don't mind me posting these photos from your blog Rochelle!)

I started June with a pedicure for a squadron social/going away party! Rough life, I know. Then that night, we met up with some couples for a little Euchre tournament and got totally crushed. Dan and I better practice before we play them again!

That afternoon, we finally caved and bought a mower! Dan's been using a weed whacker for the past year because really, our yard is tiny. But we made the upgrade and hopefully that makes his life a little easier as summer makes the grass grow like crazy.

6.3.13
This week, we had dinner with a couple from small group, I had a pizza night with Kumi while Dan worked 12 hour shifts, and we had dinner at our new neighbor's house. Busy week! We also enjoyed celebrating a birthday with our small group!

We had a Splash Day at school the week before school got out. It was just in the afternoon, but the kids were SO excited and had such a blast. They rotated though 5 different stations, including this water slide and a slip-n-slide, water relays, water balloons, and water tables. Such a fun day to work at a school!

That night, we met up with some of Dan's coworkers and ate some Korean barbecue.

Thursday, the 13th, was the kids last day of school! I can't believe the year is over already. It went fast and slow at the same time. I am thankful to have the job and to experience a kindergarten classroom for a whole school year, but at the same time, I'm so glad its over! I had some crazy times there, and am ready to move on and have my own classroom. Hopefully I'll be finding out sometime soon because I'm sick of waiting! I've put in my time and hard work, so I'm hoping it pays off for next school year (literally--it would be a huge raise! :))

6.14.13
Dan and I had a little date night and saw the movie, After Earth. Yeah...not that great. But I did take this cool photo after we got out!

6.15.13
Dan decided to take us for a drive to the east side of the island (past where we were for Memorial Day). We had only gone this far one other time about a year ago, so it was nice to see it again. The water was amazing that day! I could enlarge all these photos and have an entire Okinawa blue water photo room.... but I'll try to contain myself. We also stopped on the side of the road for a little photo shoot. The car makes a great photographer, don't you think?

6.16.13
Since schools been out, we've been trying some new recipes...like banana bread pancakes and m&m peanut butter cookies! Oh summer, how you are going to ruin my diet!

They still think they are tiny, but they are way too big to share this little thing!

A baking blog said to form the cookies like this to have them spread out better...I didn't see too much of a difference though.
That about sums up the past month! I know, these blogs are too long. But I just procrastinate writing it until we've done so much that I have to blog before I forget everything.

Dan's been having some crazy stuff happen at work, so he's been pretty busy lately. And he's almost done with his anatomy 1 course! He starts the next one soon along with his grad school classes. Hopefully he doesn't go crazy!

Also, I am leaving for the States TOMORROW!!!!!! So of course, the next post will be my adventures in Seattle and Illinois. I've already told my parents that I'm ready for Arby's, Chipotle, Panera, Little Caesar's, Homewood ice cream, and El Rancherito.....so much for home cooking! I've been missing way too many places. Anyways, until next time!
