Emma turned 2 on February 14, 2017. We celebrated at home with my parents and just opened presents and had cake. She was very into ripping the presents open and then moving on to the next one right away. We celebrated again with more presents when Dan's Dad came to town (this was on her actual birthday).
Here are the highlights from things she has learned over the past year.
12-13 months
-Shakes head yes and no
-Pointed at her face when I asked where her nose was
-when we say Oh No!, she puts hands next to ears
-Say bath time! She goes to stairs, starts pulling on shirt
-bottom left and right tooth came in - total of 6 teeth
-stopped nursing after 1st nap for a week and then 2nd nap (never asks to nurse)
-Drinks 1.5 cups of milk
-knows what toys go together (puzzle pieces to the puzzle, smart friends to their matching points, baby to the Little People car)
13-14 months
-only nursing at night
-says "ah duh" for all done
-top left and right tooth broke through - total of 8 teeth
-getting good at the Winnie the Pooh and animals puzzle. Will look at the piece and then the puzzle to see where it goes.
-new nursery at church > actually played on the mat there
-stopped breastfeeding and she quit screaming at bedtime (time change really messed us up)
-really good at signing "more"
14-15 months
-went willingly to and from church nursery with no tears!!! 4-17-16
-so friendly on hikes, playgrounds, and museums
-learning how to step down
-smiles on command
-follows one step directions. "Put your clothes in the hamper. Put your book on the shelf. Put your toy in the toy box."
-uses fork with help
-back bottom molars look like they are about to break through soon
-associates I love you with giving kisses.
-cut top right tooth and left (1st molars)
-down to one nap
15-16 months
-says bop (up), dee (dog), Nan nan (nana), bop bop (gpa), buh bye, uh oh
-waved to everyone on vacation, very friendly and outgoing
-started "talking" and responding with sounds a lot
-blood draw, 1 shot, followed by hating the crib
-cut bottom first molars
-good nap 12-2 mostly
16-17 months
-learned to "catch". Puts her hand together when we throw the ball.
-can clean up all her toys
-can find eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, tongue, hair, head, belly, hands, toes
-2 word sentences such as "buh bye mama!"
-p sound
-still gets rashy when given a banana to eat
-sits for baby signing time and is obsessed. Signs the following words : Eat. Drink. Milk. All done. Wind. Dog. Car. Time. Baby. Again. More. Please. Book. Cracker. Thank you. Cereal. Up
Working on signing : cat, fork, sleep, horse, bird, frog, outside, love, down, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, rain, hurt
17-18 months
-shakes head no
-says ya, mama, dada, buh bye, uh oh, nigh nigh, up, baby
-can spin and jump
-signs stop
18-19 months
-started school at The Christian School at Castle Hills! She isn't crying at drop off after day 3. Doing much better after 1 week. Naps well too!
-says nana, bubba (grandpa), no, mo (more)
-covers turtle in bathtub with container and holds arms up and says uhh? (Where's the turtle?)
-fake feeds us with her fork and cup, feeds her stuffed animals
-understands "stop whining!"
-g sound
-says Mama, Dada, Nana, Grandpa, Amy, edamame, hi, bye, uh oh, nigh nigh, bow, mow, more, boo, baby, ya, no, go
19-20 months
-says moo, baa, neigh, meow on puzzle
-said hello, do (shoe), I love you (bleh blah blue), pees (please), book, pay (play), bubba (iPad), click, bike, blow = 32 total
Duck. Rattle. Bee. Fire truck. Rock. Beep. Back. Ssss. Yellow. = 41 words total?
20-21 months
-starting whining more, throwing body down, tantrums
-says purple. Dog. On. Off. Mouth. Eyes. Nose. All done. Thank you. Candy. Basket. Moon. Sit. Emma. Help. Back. Let's go. = 58 words at least
-pointed to moon and said moon.
-learned her name and responds to "What's your name?" Says "Emma" when she wants to do something herself.
21-22 months
-says ok, bird, repeats color words, here you go, I don't know
-starting to identify colors
-named ducks in tub: yellow blue and purple
-counted one two three ducks on her own! (Said something for four and five too)
-"reads" some books
-saying and screaming no at me
-talking nonstop in gibberish
22-23 months
-started putting two words together (more please, buhbye mama, fix it, get it, thank you mama, bye dada)
-says poo poo, potty, gentle, raisins, empty, oh no, no thank you
-identifies colors on lamp (the color can change on the light bulb)
23-24 months
-started wanting to go potty at school. Went twice on potty on 1/18/16
