12 months!

Can you believe Emma entered this world one whole year ago? It has gone by so fast! She has become her own little person, is full of personality, understands SO many things, and is learning how to communicate with us. I am just amazed at everything she can do and am so proud to be her Mama. I just love her so much my heart could explode. At her 1 year check up, she weighed 19 lbs 2 oz, was 29.5 inches tal, and had a head of 17 inches. That's 60% in height, 18% in weight, and a mere 6% in head. She's wearing size 4 diapers and all 12 month clothes.

Here are some things Emma learned between 11-12 months.

-Starting to put blocks back in the bag when we are cleaning up
-Backs up to sit on us and she will lay down
-Figuring out how to hold several things at once in her hand
-Really started fighting her second nap (turns out a tooth was coming...)
-Started cuddling on her own and laying down on blankets on the floor
-Actually plays with toys instead of eating them all. Not sure when that transitioned but it was a while ago.
-Really good at pressing buttons on toys like the singing dog, Dr. Doug, and the walker
-Signs please, more, all done (that's all we work on)
-Drinks a whole cup of water and started carrying it around the house
-Actually lets me read books with picture words (like First 100 words) and she'll point to pictures.
-Still loves to bring me books and read with me.
-Points at things she wants (like her sippy cup when she's in the highchair)

Here are some phrases that she can understand and respond to up to this point:
  1. Let's go downstairs. (goes to the door of the room we are in)
  2. Let's go upstairs. (goes to the gate at the stairs)
  3. Do you want to eat?
  4. Dance dance dance (starts rocking back and forth and picking up her feet)
  5. Do you want a drink/ want your cup? (Gets really excited)
  6. Do you want more? (normally signs please)
  7. No (usually runs away from the ornery thing she was doing)
  8. Go get your sleep sack (picks it up)
  9. Put your binky in the crib (will push it through the cracks into the crib)
  10. Say bye bye binky (drops it in the crib after naptime)
  11. Say please (puts hand on chest to sign please)
  12. Are you all done? (signs all done)
  13. Take your shoes off (sits down and points to shoes)
  14. Let's go bye bye. Go to the car. (Walks to the laundry room connected to the garage)
  15. Bring it to Mama. (Brings me my phone or toy)
  16. Emma what's in your mouth? Give it to mama. (Takes item out of mouth and gives it to me....when she wants to and hasn't already eaten it)
  17. Let's go night night! (says nigh nigh and often goes to the stairs)
  18. Dada's home! (Says dada and looks for him)
  19. Want to watch Daniel Tiger? (Gets really excited and looks at tv, says her version of Daniel)
  20. Where's Dr. Doug? (Looks for the toy)
  21. Where's Emma?? (Squeals and comes running) / plays hide and seek with dad
  22. If you're happy and you know it clap your hands (claps her hands)
  23. High five! (Holds hand up)
  24. Can you give me a kiss? (When in the right mood, she'll lean to you and give a big wet kiss)
  25. Give me hugs.
  26. Go to your highchair. (walks and puts hands on the chair)
  27. Say hi! / Bye! (Waves)
  28. Blow kisses (puts hand on mouth, makes mm noise sometimes, blows kiss)
  29. Shake it!  (Shakes a toy)
  30. Rock Rock Rock (rocks on the ottoman)
  31. Where's mommys nose? (Points to my noise)
  32. Where's your phone? (finds toy phone) Hello? (Puts it by ear)
  33. Do you want to brush your teeth?
Wow! And those are just the ones off the top of my head! After writing it down, I'm just amazed at everything our 1 year old can understand and do even though she cannot talk.

Here's a look back at the month. Emma wasn't too sure of the baby swing! Gorgeous day though.

This is her favorite toy Dr. Doug. He says different phrases and connects to those seats in his clinic. She loves pressing the button and listening to him talk all day long. Thanks Grandpa Jim!

This is at the Natural Bridge Wildlife Safari where the animals literally come up to your windows. It was a really fun experience!

That face!! Loving the mermaid from Nona.

Not much of a winter here...

I started putting Daniel Tiger on during the day sometimes and Emma is in love!

Family date at Chili's- I loved the high chair that fit in the booth.

She grabbed the llama and the Llama Llama book- I thought that was adorable.

Using a little spoon!

Thanks for the birthday books Aunt Amy!

A nearby park on a beautiful day!

I un-velcroed the side and she thought it was the coolest thing ever being able to sit inside the toy mat.

Lunch date with a friend at La Madeleine french restaurant- delicious!

We started going on hikes with other Mama's around San Antonio. Good view on this 1.5 hour hike!

Baby story time at the library. Emma loves all the songs!

We got her a little couch for her birthday that pulls out that she can lay on. She LOVES sitting on it. Especially around her birthday, she started going over to it a lot and figuring out how to sit down on it.

A day at the zoo

More hiking

Emma's first rodeo! It's a pretty big deal here.

Next post will be the big birthday party!
