Last weekend, June 28th/29th, was AmericaFest on base, so we went out on Saturday evening to see the Capital Movement Dance group and 3 Doors Down. I thought it was really cool to see all our planes and jets open for viewing as well. I had no idea what they looked like inside, so it feels good to have a visual now when friends talk about certain planes. The weather was iffy before we went because it started pouring when we left our house to go to the shuttle. We decided to go anyways in hopes that it would be a short storm. It was- but it was so humid and sticky the whole night. To cool down, I got a snow cone that was more like small chunks of ice with some flavoring. We kept walking to the other booths and saw ones that looked way better, so we both got one. As I was walking and eating with both hands full, I dropped my straw from one. Then I cracked my cup and it spilled all over the place. Then Dan was trying to hand me his when I was going to take something from him and I punched his out of his hand. Hah! Can we call this pregnancy brain already?? It was not my night for snow cones...
Sunday, we went to the beach with one of Dan's coworkers but only lasted about 20 minutes before a complete downpour. You never know on this island! Then, that night we went to a friend's house for dinner and went with them to AmericaFest to catch the fireworks. It felt much better out this time! Nice and cool and no rain at all. We caught the end of the 3 Doors Down concert as well. They did a great job! We don't really listen to their music but I still enjoy a good free concert. The fireworks lasted about 10 minutes and then we caught the shuttle back to our car and called it a night.
Tuesday morning, I enjoyed a pedicure with a friend. Before we went in, there was a sign to let them know if you are pregnant because of the pressure points during the massage, so I told her outside! Then we were able to talk baby during the pedicure! So much fun.
We hiked up a little ways to this lookout spot. Beautiful!
Thursday was my 25th birthday! Dan made it so special for me by getting gifts from him, Sophie, Bella, and our little Pebble.
Below, Sophie got me a candle for the times she stinks.
Dan got me a chick flick.
Bella got me a new blanket to make up for the one she chewed on.
Pebble got me a soft maternity shirt and a beautiful Mommy necklace.
It's not the best picture- but its a mom and a baby on the top. So sweet!!
After breakfast and opening presents, we hit up the beach for a while. I loved reading on my new Kindle birthday present from Dan! It is so much easier than the Ipad because you don't have to squint at the screen. Then, we chilled in the perfect water for a while. We practically had the whole beach area to ourselves because some dark rain clouds were coming towards us. They ended up passing with just a tiny 5 second sprinkle! Later that day, we drove up even farther North to Cape Hedo which is where the Pacific Ocean meets the East China Sea. Nothing too exciting except a giant bird and some cliffs. :) Then, we did the beach again, cleaned up for dinner, and watched my movie at the end of the night. Great birthday!!!
Friday, we drove back home from Okuma. I pretty much felt sick the whole day so not much of a holiday for me. We just relaxed at home for a while and then went to the airport to pick up some friends. We brought them home and then went grocery shopping. We ended the night by watching "Last Vegas" which was a pretty good movie except for a few parts.
OH NO! 8 weeks made me pop out like an 18 lb watermelon....!
So there you have it, my 8 week pregnancy summary and excitement of the past week!
