When 2 became 3! :)

Monday, June 9th (Last week of school!!!)
I still hadn't started my period and was a few days late so I decided to go to the BX to grab a pregnancy test [am I the only one who goes as fast as possible and tries not to bump into anyone while buying these?]. I took a First Response test on Thursday and it was negative so I had already found peace this month with not being pregnant. This was after being super bloated every night for the last week in May and thinking something may be up (turns out, it was probably implanting that week!). I even ordered ovulation strips the next day so they'd be here for the next cycle! I got home from school and took the test and to my surprise....positive!!! I was sooooo happy! But it was faint so I was trying not to think too much into it in case it was a false positive. I kept looking at it like every 5 minutes to see if it still looked positive. What’s funny is that earlier that day, I told my para that I was craving Butterfinger Blizzards lately and she’s like….oooooh you know what that means! Are you pregnant?? I was like no no! It just sounds good….I really didn’t know at that point!

I know you all loving seeing these shots. ;)
I wanted Dan to come home so bad so I could tell him the news and he ended up coming late that day, around 7. Normally, he enjoys some after dinner coffee, so I decided to stick my test in a mug so he’d see it when he opened the cabinet. We chatted a little bit before dinner was so ready, and I was fighting a smile the whole time. I kept trying to get him to have some coffee but he wasn’t heading that way so I had to make it WAY obvious (because I knew I couldn’t keep a straight face all the way through dinner) like “just have some coffee ok!!” so he knew something was up. Finally, he opened the cabinet and found it. He was pretty happy too!!!

Tuesday, June 10th
I went back to the BX after school to pick up 2 other brands just to make sure. I took one Tuesday and one Wednesday- both positive! They weren’t faint either so I knew for sure this time. Our clinic has walk in pregnancy tests in the mornings, but since I still have school, I have to wait until Monday to get it confirmed by the doctor. So far, I don’t have many symptoms. I do feel exhausted, but that could be because school is wearing me out this week with all the craziness of the end of the year. But even after school, I felt like everything was a chore to do- like even standing. I didn’t have a lot of spare energy by the end of the night. I’ve been falling asleep within 5 minutes every night this week and am ready for bed by 9!

Thursday, June 12th
I woke up starving and was starving after school-symptoms of pregnancy I hope! That night, Dan and I toasted to 2 things- the last day of school and the start of our family! I should be about 5 weeks by now according to all the pregnancy apps I downloaded on my phone. I love how they pop up with alerts and say “Mom, your baby is now 5 weeks old! She is the size of an appleseed!” It’s just a simple reminder on a daily basis that I am growing a human being!

Monday, June 16th
I went to the Women’s Clinic first thing in the morning. I just filled out one form and they sent me to the lab to get some blood drawn and that was it. I was back home within about 40 minutes. That afternoon, I received a phone call while I was driving home from the post office, so I called back when I got home. The nurse confirmed that I was pregnant!! She said to come in this week to fill out the paperwork.

Tuesday, June 17th
I went into the clinic again in the morning to start my packet of paperwork. Then, she sent me to get more blood drawn and to pick up my prenatals and that was it. Apparently the hospital is going to call me in the next few days to set up my 10-12 week ultrasound. I actually feel like this whole thing is rather anti-climactic so far! I didn’t know what to expect since I haven’t talked to anyone about it. I’m getting antsy to tell people! Still no symptoms so far and the paper I got today said I am 5 weeks and 5 days along- due February 12th! February can’t come soon enough!

Wednesday, June 18th
We decided to tell my family on Wednesday. They were on vacation in Arizona so it was the perfect time to have them all together in the same room! I waited until Dan got home so it seemed like a normal chat and he was just coming home on lunch break. Then when we were about to hang up, I tried to get them all on the screen so I could catch all their facial expressions at the same time when I told them “We….are…….pregnant!!!” It was so much fun watching their reactions. I just wish I had it on video to remember! Now they have something to talk about on their vacation. :)

Saturday, June 21st

We had a great chat with Dan's sister and our little 2 year old nephew Saturday night. We ended the call by telling them we are pregnant! Then on Sunday morning, we called Dan's mom and Facetimed for a while catching up before telling her at the end of our chat! She had the best reaction by far! Super excited for us and happy she is coming in October when I'll be about 5 months along! Finally, Sunday night, we told Dan's Dad and Grandma since they were both together. Just two more siblings to go!
